My name is Musasa
Hello world!
My real name is Musasa or simply Msasa – Others call me Brachystegia spiciformis.
I am the most dominant tree in Central and Southern Africa.
I grow up to 16-18 meters tall and I thrive under temperature range of 19-35°C and an annual rainfall average of 500mm.
They love resting under my shade because its really broad and cool.
Some humans set fires around this time of the year but they have failed to wipe me from the face of the earth.
It is me who taught Africans the true meaning of resilience and endurance.
I am at my best between August and September – usually after enduring horrific fires which sometimes kill my little ones.
After every annual assault (dry season and fires) I recover with fresh leaves.
My tender leaves become royal purple or outright red during this season.
You have less than 6 weeks to view me at my very best. When I turn purple – red I make Zimbabwe soooo pristine and simply magical.
Even the so called mighty Victoria Falls is sometimes jealousy of me when I blossom.
