EBZ launches Marange Reforestation Project.
One is much more of the conviction that History is less about a recollection of events of the past, but rather more about a struggle for power. Studies of history give particular focus on the struggle of political, social and economic power. History is made up of obituaries and profiles of great leaders and outstanding warriors.
Unlike primitive times when great leaders were determined by their victories in battles and countless purges on human life, great leaders can now be described by the impact and change one brings to his/her community, country and subordinates.
A leader driven by a need to bring positive change in her community, Marange’s Ishe Mazwi, Buwerimwe Ward 23 and Buwerimwe Community partnered with Environmental Buddies Zimbabwe, an environmental conservation organization to undo the wrongs done to nature over the several years of human existence in her area.
After several years of deforestation, the Marange Community launched the Marange Reforestation Porject. All involved stakeholders decided to give back animals their natural habitats, toiling villagers a shed to rest under, the community a source of the African taste of good fruit and expanding future reserves for energy and self-sustenance projects.
Marange community together with Environmental Buddies Zimbabwe planted 1500 Indigenous trees celebrating the birth of a new era.
Also gracing the tree planting event was:
1. Zimbabwe Consolidated Diamond Company Mining Manager, Mr. Dennis Mtombeni (Guest of Honour)
2. Environmental Buddies Zimbabwe Trust
3. Oneline Baobab
4. Forestry Commission, Manicaland Province (Aaron Chinofunga)
5. Environmental Management Agency
6. Zivai Community Empowerment Trust (https://www.facebook.com/zicetempower/)
