A house is not a home……
A house is built on moulded bricks, roofing and considerable fortunes is injected into building or buying one. This does not however make it a home. It takes a different kind of effort to build a home, most of which is non-monetary.
Nothing is more relaxing than enjoying a cool breeze under a tree shed after a long day of hard work. Better still, working in such friendly environments can make working more enjoyable.
A home is made of happy laughters from overly excited children playing around the house and trees are a perfect way of inciting excitement in children. A number of games like hide and seeks, replication of action movies amongst others are made more fun by the presence of trees. Tree climbing to collect ripe fruit that is in most cases shared and ate under the same tree shed makes childhood even more memorable.
Having had looked back and in the present, a strong realisation of the importance of teachers in any community motivated a drive by Environmental Buddies Zimbabwe Trust together with Chogugudza Primary School embarked on a mission to appreciate the school’s teaching staff for their relentless work towards quality education at the school by turning staff houses into staff homes. Planting one hundred and ten (110) trees around staff houses, a mark to appreciate their educational icons was made.
An appreciative staff (Mr. Chinyepe, Mr. Mandizvidza) helped their pupils and Environmental Buddies Zimbabwe Trust team plant and water the newly planted trees. In just a few hours, history was made at Chogugudza Primary School. Life will never be the same for the teaching staff. Efforts of a few hours build homes for a forever grateful school staff that could not hide their joy after being remembered in such a way.
